Death, in full bloom.
On Día de los Muertos, grief puts on its brightest colours. Her face is painted for the celebration — marigolds piled high in her hair, turquoise falling like water, eyes wide open to both worlds at once: the one we live in, and the one we carry our loved ones in.
She isn’t mourning. She’s remembering — loudly, beautifully, with diamond dust catching the light the way candles catch a night altar.
60″ × 60″. Acrylic on canvas with diamond dust. Handmade original — only one exists.
